THIRD SECTOR AND SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP: THE CASE OF HALLEL SCHOOL IN BRAZIL

Nowadays, the Third Sector (TS) emerges significantly in the world. In Brazil, such growth put in relief the way social actors are innovating in working with the various expressions of the social question, which is precisely the meaning of social entrepreneurship. This article is central theme on observing the relationship between social entrepreneurship and regional development, having as object of study the Hallel School, an organization that aims to develop the whole person through evangelization and training of Christians from different age groups. Their objective was to identify the main features, results and difficulties of creating a religious-education Non Governmental Organization (NGO), recognized as social enterprise in the city of Franca - Brazil. They were, preliminarily, identified the main reasons to starting the organization. After a brief history, it has been described as the Hallel School emerged, its major goals, projects, social work, difficulties and results. This is the only case in Brazil, focusing just one analysis unit as a whole. The main contributions of the paper was to present the benefits educational, religious, social, economic, cultural, among others, from the Hallel School, as well as some difficulties encountered, as the professionalization of management, lack of routine planning, forms of funding and consequent sustainability, lack of partnerships with organizations belonging to the Second Sector, among others.Downloads
