Hotels in Rio de Janeiro need to care about the way they receive tourists. Problematic situations arise: is the hospitality sector able to receive a wide range of tourists while the city of Rio de Janeiro will host events like the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016? What will the quality of working conditions be like? This work aims at validating a model for evaluating the quality of work life proposed by Mancebo et al. With this purpose an instrument of analysis based on qualitative and quantitative data was created in order to measure the levels of quality of work life of employees according to their perceptions.
Given the growth of tourism in Brazil this study reflects the need for a change in the management practice in organizations that have contact with tourists.
